Help! I am a prisoner of my cataract surgery. My last time out on February 15, President’s Day, the boat was jammed, shoulder to shoulder and many tangles and few fish. I had a couple of triggers, a mangrove, blue runners and hot dogs. No fishing for the next few weeks for me. I will report on some of the other member’s catches.

On the social side, our next meeting will be on March 3 at 3 PM in classroom B. The Jungle Queen Dinner Cruise is sold out. The bus will leave from the Dover corner parking area at 3:30 PM. Plan on arriving at about 3:10 PM. Ellie will get the tickets when we get to the Jungle Queen and distribute them. We will be sitting downstairs as a group and seated together in the restaurant. We are looking forward to a fun time and hopefully the weather will cooperate. The boat has plastic curtains which are closed in case of rainy weather.

Please call Alice Roth at 242-0351 to make your reservations for Bellonties on March 25. Our Duck Island Picnic is in the works.

Call Herb at 616-3753 with any fishing reports. A great big thanks to Betty Thomas and the crew of Condo News for publishing our articles!

In closing we wish you tight lines and good fishing.

Fishing? Between the poor weather over the past two weeks, I still managed to squeeze in five trips and in each instance, caught at least 13 fish, with a top at 33 on the 29th so I am not complaining, no sirree. Once more, 99% of my action has come while using a three-separate hook "Guppy rig", with little pieces of squid and sardine on each hook. No, no big ones often that way but did I get action? You betcha!

They went like this: 1/27, "Lady K" out of Lantana, 27 fish, including three two pound banded rudderfish and a five pound king mackerel, again, all on that Guppy rig! Then on the 29th, on the Pompano Beach "Helen S VI", that 33 fish afternoon which included two triggers, a huge blowfish, and ten nice porgies. Back to the Helen S on the 1st for 15 fish including a huge file fish which made for three great meals, and a nice porgy.

Then on the 3rd, on the Lady K, I had that 13 fish trip which consisted, in part, of two porgies, a good-eating white sea bass, and a yellowtail snapper. Lastly, on the 6th, back to Helen S for twenty fish, all on the Guppy rig. One of them was a five-pound rainbow runner, a beautiful fish indeed. I also had a big porgy and a keeper yellowtail in the tally.

Hey, go for big ones and catch hardly anything ever if you want, for me, it’s action that I seek and nearly always get!

Scuze me, gone fishin’
